Meet Margie Ramsey, VP, Youth Programs, Essence of a Lady, Inc.
Since 1989, Margie has been giving back to women and girls through Essence of a Lady, Inc. August 2008, Essence of a Lady, Inc began an affiliate program for YELL!Mentoring at Pinedale Elementary School. Margie garnished the support of Bank of America to allow her to go to Pinedale to conduct a weekly mentoring session with 2nd-5th grade girls during their lunch period. This lasted over 11 years! After successfully taking over 13 girls and 7 volunteers to the 30th Anniversary of Essence of a Lady at the Females are Fabulous Conference, a pandemic caused her to create a virtual program to still connect with youth.

Educate, MENTOR, and Empower youth, specifically school-age girls and boys, to develop leadership, career, and social skills for successful transition from high school to college or entrepreneurship through the philanthropic support of adults through developmental programs, field trips, and special events!!
Our Purpose
All youth will be provided the tools, resources, and financial support needed to develop career, leadership and social skills to help them graduate from high school and pursue further studies to become productive citizens and/or future entrepreneurs.
Created in 1989 by twin sisters, Margie Ramsey and Dr. JoAnn Ajayi-Scott, and 21 other ladies, Essence of a Lady, Inc. recruits professional and entrepreneurial women to help educate, mentor, and empower school-age girls. Although they have had the support of over 400 women to support over 100 youth, they have been the backbone of Essence of a Lady for over 32 years.
Its two signature programs were established in 2007. Essence Ladies (aka E'Ladies) are women 20 years old and up and Young Essence Ladies...Learning (aka YELL!)are girls 6-19 years old. Essential Men's (E'Men's) Network are men 20 years old and up and Young Men Empowered (Y-ME?) was re-launched in January 2021 .
