For over 33 years, the programs, events, and scholarship opportunities of Essence of a Lady have been diverse, equitable and inclusive. We strive to be sensitive to all participants and members in our programs by recognizing all girls and boys, regardless of their circumstances or ability to pay for any activity we present to the community. Our leadership team addresses all three components in these three ways: Internally- through volunteers, youth participation, and access to resources. Programming- youth leadership opportunities, internships, and speaker/sponsor opportunities at our events. Communications-We provide opportunities for all youth to participate in programs as speakers, emcees, and presenters. Parents and volunteers are informed and given a platform to share their thoughts and ideas for youth programs and events.
Diversity: We show appreciation and provide opportunities to all parents, youth, supporters and community leaders to help our youth leverage their career, leadership and social skills in our mentoring programs and partnerships in the community. Equity- Our policies, practices and programs are set up to provide all people, regardless of race or background, an opportunity to have a sense of pride. Inclusion- We plan our programs, events and activities so all youth can participate, regardless of their financial, physical or social aptitude. We create positive interactions in a positive environment to make everyone feel welcomed.
Since 1989, Essence of a Lady has supported over 1000 girls with over 400 women and 25 men involved in their development.
