Essence of a Lady, Inc has open enrollment for school aged girls, 6-19 years old, into Young Essence Ladies...Learning (YELL!) Mentoring program daily June through January of each year.

Open Enrollment is  promoted June through January, but specifically in September and January!
Give your daughter the gift of mentoring support  -  and new opportunities to grow.

Insight
Through the YELL!Mentoring program, our goal is to develop a network of professional and entrepreneurial women who help educate, mentor, an empower girls to be:

1. Able to resist negative peer pressure, such as drug and alcohol abuse
2. Focused on school success
3. Able to interact socially in a positive way with family and friends
4. Able to promote a POSITIVE SELF-ESTEEM through positive self worth.
5. Able to share their life struggles in a nonjudgmental environment.

Parents are our Partners!
Parents and guardians are an integral part of  Young Essence Ladies...Learning (YELL!). Helping us understand your daughter is important to us as our objective is to supplement your efforts! Not only do you provide information about your child's strengths and needs, but you approve the programs your daughter participates in her development. Once your daughter is enrolled, we would like you to remain involved in several key ways:

1. Approving programs and activities and supporting your child's involvement
2. Asking your child questions about program sessions and activities, and report any concerns
3. Reporting to us on a quarterly basis about your daughter's progress and milestones
4. Participating in special events, and carefully designated activities offered by YELL! through our mentor support organization, E'Ladies Network.
5. Participating in our end of the year Program Assessment to help us with continuous improvement.

Your child's safety is very important to us!

YELL!Program
YELL! works collaboratively with school districts and community organizations to conduct a thorough background check on volunteers in our mentoring programs and activities. Program Sessions and Activities are adult-supervised at all times. The safety and well-being of the girls we serve is our highest priority. We strive to achieve the highest quality possible in providing environments that are conducive to learning, providing safety for the girls, and in providing ongoing professional support services to our children, parents and volunteers.

To help ensure child safety, Essence of a Lady, Inc. Professional Standards require that each volunteer must complete a thorough screening process that includes :

1. Completion of an application into the E'Ladies Network
2. A criminal history record check and child abuse clearance through Sterling Volunteers.
3. At least two references listed on the volunteer application
4. A phone and in-person interview
5. A Mentor Profile to inform us of their interest and desire to support
6. An orientation that provides insight to the individualized needs of girls at different ages.

Through the E'Ladies Network, the mentoring support organization, monthly workshops and/or mentoring sessions are provided as an on-going commitment on the part of our volunteers to teach girls the importance of connecting with and developing relationships with their peers and other experienced women.

Enrollment Process (for your child (ren) to participate is as easy as 1,2,3!
1. Complete form on the YELL! (girls) and/or Y-ME? (boys) page.
2. Make an annual donation to support YELL! or Y-ME? Mentoring Program and purchase T-Shirt from our store. You may also submit annual registration donation to Support Us here.
3. Wait for the Mentor Program Director or representative to contact you.
