YELL! Partner and Sponsorship
Young Essence Ladies-Learning
are combination mentoring programs working with minority students. Initially, we provide mentorship and
program support using research-based strategies and
curriculum to help students develop coping skills to
redirect their behavior and focus on graduating from
high school. Long term, we match them up with an adult
mentor (and peer, if needed) to provide nonjudgmental
support academically and emotionally.
We receive in-kind donations and resources from from
local education agencies (LEA) or school districts, such as building space, bus
funding, and student support through teachers,
counselors, administrators, and district personnel
guidance.
We receive manpower support through community and
nonprofit organizations, such as in-kind donations of
building space at local libraries and community centers
for Mentor trainings and workshops; additionally, their
time and resources as workshop presenters are provided;
finally, they invite mentees to attend special events
and annual conferences for FREE.
However, we are in desperate need of local business
support for our annual special events we present to the
mentees and their family. Those events are:
1. The Mentor/Mentee Open House in September
2. The Parent Open House in January
3. The Christmas Celebration in December
4. The Miss Sweetheart Debutante Ball(with father/male
escort) in February
5. The Alma Allen Scholarship Gala in April
6. The Mother/Daughter Day Out in May
7. The Mentor/Mentee Retreat in May
Additionally, we need financial support for our field
trips we plan to allow students an opportunity to become
exposed to culture and have real-world experiences.
Annually, they attend:
1. A local theatre
2. The Zoo
3. A museum
4. The Mentor Mentee Retreat (out of town for a weekend)
With you support, our youth will become well-rounded,
productive citizens of society because they will
recognize that life offers more than what they see
everyday in their community. Please review the
Sponsorship information and inform us of your capacity
to support this worthwhile mentoring program.
