Sponsor an
Event
Greetings Community Leaders,
Nonprofit Organizations, and Local Businesses,
Essence of a Lady, Inc.
(E/L, Inc), a Texas nonprofit corporation, founded two
organizations to bring females together, E’Ladies
Small Business Network (E’Ladies Network), a
professional network of small female-owned businesses
which coordinates culturally-relevant field trips,
educational workshops, and fun-filled special events. E’Ladies
Network is the support arm of Young Essence
Ladies…Learning (YELL!), which is a combination
mentoring program whose mission is to empower girls ages
6- 19 years old. Through this same gender mentoring
program, the E’Ladies Network hosts group mentoring
sessions at elementary through ninth grade centers with
district-supported programs, such as Communities in
Schools(CIS) . Additionally, Lunch and Learn
mentoring support for peer mentors is hosted weekly on
the high school campus. Big Brothers/Big Sisters (BBBS)
has partnered with Essence of a Lady Inc/YELL! to
provide program management and support beginning January
2011. It will manage all matches and provide ongoing
professional development to all mentors.
Additionally, other partnerships, such as
E'Ladies Network and its
partnerships,
provide afterschool classes to teach emotional and
social skills that promote positive self-worth and build
self-esteem. Ultimately, the girls are “matched” with a
female adult volunteer to receive one-on-one mentorship
who share common interests and/or career aspirations.
All of the field trips, special events, and workshops
coordinated by the E’ladies Network provide
opportunities for girls to become exposed to career
opportunities and network with women of all walks of
life.
